Mt Baker and Mt Shuksan. Text Box: This doe had her first set of twins this year. Two days ago one was hit by a car. Take care when driving around Whatcom County; even in residential neighborhoods. Text Box: Whatcom County is home to three casinos located on tribal lands. The Silver Reef Casino (Lummi Nation) located south of Ferndale added a hotel and spa last year. The Nooksack Indian Tribe controls two casinos; Nooksack River Casino in Deming and Northwood Casino north of Lynden. Some people do not like casinos. Last year, residents around the trust land where the Northwood Casino was built showed their objections in many ways. Eventually, court rulings favored the tribe, but the signs have stayed. Text Box: We had two new sets of twin deer in our neighborhood this year. One doe has had twins every year for the last four years. They love to eat the expensive plants you buy at the nursery.
